These photographs are from the series Nine Square Kilometres photographs produced over a four week period in February /March 2017. They were created to be site specific to Safehouse One for Peckham 24 and the project involved an expedition around Peckham, South East London, starting with historical research, culminating in a series of night time photographs that reference and highlight not only Peckham’s rich history and culture but also its contemporary geography and environments.

The title of the series comes from the map I used to collate my shoots that indicated the area I had walked and photographed which covered precisely nine square kilometres. Chaucer, Blake, and Browning rub shoulders with royalty, riots, lost canals and rivers to create a series wide-ranging topographic fables that are intrinsically woven into 21st century Peckham.
